Analyzing a 2.3 million fan W.I.N.G speedrun

This page is a work in progress![edit | edit source]

Introduction[edit | edit source]

In this article, we will be taking a deep dive into [this 9:16 2.3 million fan run of W.I.N.G by naru_shiny.] While a lot of the speed comes from near-automatic reaction speed, a high performance mobile device and a fast internet connection, there is still a lot of planning that has to go into any speedrun before it begins, so we will be taking a closer look at the set up and how much of this knowledge can be transferred over to our own W.I.N.G runs.

Loadout and Preperation[edit | edit source]

The best place to start any analysis is from the very beginning, so lets look at the Produce idol, the supports, EX skills and produce items brought to this run, and why those particular things were chosen .

Produce Idol[edit | edit source]

The produce idol that was brought to this run wasn't a fancy P-SSR but plain old Idol Road Tenka. The main advantage of running Idol Road in a speedrun setting is that Idol Road cards don't have any extra commues tied to that specific card, reducing the number of loading screens during the run, and by pausing the video and looking at Tenka's stats on Season 1, Week 1, we know she was equipped with 2 rainbow starting Mental EX skills and 1 rainbow starting SP EX skill, to add 100 mental and 50 SP to the starting stats. In addition, a medium sized dance book and a medium sized visual book were brought as produce items, adding 60 dance and 60 visual to those starting stat totals. In addition, they have the Shiny Pass purchased so they also have a notebook during the run.

Support Idols[edit | edit source]

As the choice of produce items implies, this W.I.N.G run is using a dual-stat Dance+Visual build, so let's take a closer look at the supports used, using my own rating system to explain why these cards are so good for a run like this. Please note that all 5 supports used are Limited S-SSRs that you probably don't have and are only reran extremely rarely. However, you also don't really need maxed limited supports as featured in this video if you're only going for True End, and not the perfect 2.3 million fan run.

Icon Character Title JP Title lb4 Attacker Rating lb4 Provider Rating lb4 Supporter Rating Notes
CardIcon-2040010060.png Mano
Sakuragi
Ekisenjou no Nichijou 【駅線上の日常】
櫻木真乃
SS SS S- Train Station Mano
CardIcon-2040020060.png Hiori
Kazano
Minamo o Aoi de Umi no Soko 【水面を仰いで海の底】
風野灯織
S+ SS S- Whale Hiori's primary is as a provider, where she provides a power dual stat 4-star appeal that leans towards dance, hence greater stat investment focus being placed into Visual during this run to even this appeal out. That's not to say that she doesn't make for a potent attacker with her 3x appeal that buffs both Dance and Visual by 25%, but its not quite on the same level as the other supports here or CardIcon-2040190020.png S-SSR2 Mei, with the main reason to her being preferred over flower Meguru as an attacker for this run being that the P idol has an extremely under-developed vocal stat, making Flower Megs appeal less potent than they could be.
CardIcon-2040090060.png Kaho
Komiya
Hangeki no Noroshi o Ageyo! 【反撃の狼煙をあげよ!】
小宮果穂
SS+ S+ A Space Kaho's main draw as a support for high-level W.I.N.G runs is that she adds an Excellent appeal to your audition appeal pool. For those unfamiliar with how Excellent appeals work, they are a special type of heal that always hit for the judge's favored stat. On top of this attribute, the appeal's base multiplier is a whopping 3.5x at lv80. This makes the four Excellent appeal supports (this Kaho and the Chiyoko below, plus CardIcon-2040050060.png S-SSR6 Mamimi and CardIcon-2040120060.png S-SSR6 Rinze who aren't used in this run) the four strongest dedicated attackers in the game right now.

On top of her appeal, she also makes for an excellent (no pun intended) provider, providing two extremely strong passives that can work in all builds, and also a 4x appeal+buff in every stat! The only thing stopping her from getting SS tier for provider is that they're a little awkward to access and they're ultimately still single-stat appeals, and at this level, the dual stat appeals are strongly preferred (and the appeal of CardIcon-2040190030.png S-SSR3 Mei is still better for mono-da runs)

CardIcon-2040100050.png Chiyoko
Sonoda
Kimagure Zenryoku Beat! 【kimagure全力ビート!】
園田智代子
SS+ S A Band Chiyoko pretty much works the same way as Space Kaho does, but she gets a slightly lower rating as a provider because the 4-star appeals she provides to your Produce idol are only 3.5x instead of 4x, and her passives have a lower proc chance, despite technically being able to activate on Turn 1, unlike Kaho's Gold passive. Also, she has more normal main stat lesson masteries as opposed to Kaho's triple stat uncap mastery.
CardIcon-2040030030.png Meguru
Hachimiya
Hanaemi Sakiniou 【花笑み咲匂う】
八宮めぐる
SS SS SS Flower Meguru is arguably the single strongest support for W.I.N.G in the entire game, being able to fill all three critical roles to a level that surpasses many more specialized supports in their strongest aspect once maxed.

While Flower Meguru is an amazing provider and attacker, operating as a Vocal and Visual version Train Station Mano above, her only utilized role on this build is as a supporter, filling the guest slot so that her lv6 Audition Mastery Mental can provide 72 points of additional mental to Tenka before the first challenge of Utahime. Also, she provides a stamina discount if she ends up in the talk show area, a room that this run uses on occasion to reach the 280 SP needed to unlock both Train Mano's and Whale Hiori's 4-star skills.
